Minister of National Defense Peter MacKay easily advanced to the second round of The Low Beam Challenge after competition in St. John’s, Newfoundland yesterday.
MacKay managed to stand upright for a full minute and twelve seconds longer than his nearest competitor, Senator Fabian Manning. Dennis O’Keefe, Mayor of St. John’s, was a distant third, only managing to remain upright for six seconds. “There was a fair breeze on,” said O’Keefe. “And me shoes was too frigging tight.” O’Keefe, who is unable to tie his own shoes, relied on help from MacKay’s mother.
Manning did well in “Reading Aloud” but MacKay still managed a solid fifteen word sentence. O”Keefe misunderstood the rules of the reading competition and ate his prepared text. “Not bad, b’y, eaten worse,” said O’Keefe.
