Flaherty Jealous of Osbourne

Austerity envy

Canada must accelerate its spending and more quickly increase the deficit if the Government is to introduce British style austerity say Finance Department officials.

“It’s long been the dream of Little Jimmy (Finance Minister James Flaherty) to implement really tough measures,” said an alleged official. “But the books have been too sound.”

To give Little Jimmy an opportunity to “bring the hammer down” the Government has decided to spend wildly.  “The F-35 fighters came along at just the right time,” he continued. “That’s a lot of dough to blow.”

The spending hasn’t been arbitrary but focused on regions and causes of interest to the governing party.  “The appointment of Mike Duffy to the Senate was no accident.  He will routinely eat twice his weight in Government purchased meals.  Think of the extra fuel burned flying him around the country.”

Increasing debt while espousing conservative values is a win-win situation for the Harper Government. “If we destroy the State in the process, so much the better.”
