French Government WalksOct 19th, 2010 | By Coco Cabrera | Category: Featured
French President Nicolas Sarkozy has announced that he and his Government will answer the General Strike protesting proposed retirement reforms by themselves going on strike. In a continuation of the tit-for-tat job action, strikers have said they will respond by striking their own strike by going back to work but remaining as surly and uncooperative as possible.
Spokesfrenchperson for the Élysée Palace, Lucien Bouchard-Petin de Nancy said that the move by the strikers to return to work was an outrage and that the Government would respond after the Council of Ministers concluded a three-hour luncheon which would feature Belon oysters, a partridge consumé, a fricassee of wild mushrooms, turbot a la Riche, Ortolan roasted en croute, truffled creamed celeriac root and fresh peas simply prepared with Normandy butter. For dessert, rum baba followed by a cheese service. Wines served during the high level meeting will include Krug Champagne, Lafon Montrachet 1996, Volnay Clos de Ducs 1988 and Chateau D’Yquem 1976.
