The pop­u­lar­ity of the tat­too read­ing “I Already Regret Doing This” indi­cates a new trend in self-conscious or “Metat­toos”.   Ace Janes, a tat­too artist in St. John’s, New­found­land and Labrador, told URNews that the reflex­ive tat­toos are already more pop­u­lar than the old stand­bys of but­ter­flies and barbed wire. “I’m doing a sleeve for a guy now that looks like a shirt sleeve, and last week I put “This looks weird now that I’ve gained weight” over this pretty hot chick’s butt.”

There are even Meta Metat­tos sur­fac­ing.  “A guy came in the other day,” said Janes, “and wanted the Chi­nese Ideogram for “Chi­nese Ideogram”.  I couldn’t help him because like most tat­too artists I don’t read Chi­nese characters.”
